Leaving ancient malarial and marshy areas, now reclaimed and transformed into green fields, rice fields and farms of Venetian charm, throughout the trip we will run on the plain that has filled the great Rift del Campidano. Surrounded by forgotten extinct volcanoes, which occasionally appear on our sides, we reach Cagliari. Capital and main port of Sardinia, it has been inhabited since prehistoric times and the scene of many dominations during the centuries. From the metropolitan area, we will quickly reach the port and from here, towards the historic heart of Cagliari and the upper town, to walk through it... We will observe the Citadel, the Cathedral famous for its neo-Romanesque façade and baroque interiors, the Towers with the magnificent Bastions and the panoramic terraces over the city. All the monuments can be reached through a maze of narrow streets, where small craft shops have preserved an ancient architecture. Here you will be free for shopping during the opening hours of the shops. At the end of the morning we will leave by bus towards the white “Devil’s Saddle”, with its heavenly legends and the war events and the Site of Community Interest “Molentargius and Saline”, with the famous pink flamingos. But across the street, we already see the beach of Poetto, where we will comfortably stop for lunch by the sea. In the early afternoon we will start the return to the Hotel with a panoramic stop to greet the city and its sea from the beautiful view of Mount Urpinu and another outside the white Basilica of N.S. Bonaria, recurrent place of pilgrimage of the Popes. Along the return you will have the opportunity to question your Tourist Guide, on the nice terms in Sardinian, on recipes and typical products, ways of being and legends.
